Why we’re building GoGenius
Ask people what they’d like to get better at and you rarely hear “algebra”. You hear: I want to speak up in meetings. I want to stop putting things off. I want to be someone my friends can talk to. I want to walk into an interview and not freeze.
Almost none of that is taught in school, and most of it gets filed under personality, as if you either have it or you don’t. We don’t think that’s true. Listening, focusing, explaining an idea, making a call in a group: these are skills, and skills grow with practice.
The hard part is the practice itself. Books and videos tell you what to do, but they rarely give you a reason to do it today, or a small enough step to start with. Good intentions fade by Thursday.
What we’re making
GoGenius is a phone app that starts with what you want. You pick a main area, from learning and career to relationships, communication, focus and confidence, and one goal that matters to you. GoGenius shapes short, practical exercises around it, a few minutes at a time.
Some days that might be rehearsing a conversation you’ve been avoiding. Other days it’s a habit to try, or a moment to look back on what went well. Over time, the small reps add up.
What it isn’t
GoGenius isn’t a test, a diagnosis or a ranking, and it won’t tell you who you are. We’d rather help you practice who you want to become.
What’s next
We’re a small team at Waterside Labs, and GoGenius is the first thing we’re shipping. We’ll write here about what we learn as we build: how habits form, what makes practice stick, and the decisions behind the app.
GoGenius is coming soon to iPhone and Android. If you have questions or ideas, write to us at info@watersidelabs.com.
